Careers

Since its ambitious establishment, The Aggie Standard has grown from a small circle of eager students to a thriving newspaper featuring four autonomous desks.

No matter your level of journalistic experience, writing proficiency, or career path, we encourage all prospective writers and editors to submit an application. New contributors can expect to receive intensive training in writing methodology, rhetoric, and journalism while gaining real-world media experience.

The Aggie Standard is empowered by students who are committed to protecting Aggie values, improving their community, and providing a voice for the issues that interest them.

Career FAQs:

Will I be paid for my work?

Yes, all permanent contributors at The Aggie Standard are compensated for their work at a negotiable rate. Writer salaries can range from $25 - $50 per article while photojournalists can earn up to $75 per project, depending on experience and demand.

How many hours will I work per week?

At The Aggie Standard, we encourage our contributors to adopt a schedule that works for them. Instead of mandating work schedules, we allow writers and photojournalists to complete assignments at their own pace. Please consider that all work must submitted by predetermined deadlines and that weekly in-person meetings are required.

How do I apply for a position?

Please find the "Apply" button at the bottom of this page; you will be directed to an application portal. After submitting all necessary documents and carefully answering our preliminary questionnaire, an Aggie Standard Staff Member will notify you of your decision via provided contact information. Reviewing applications may take up to 2 weeks.
